So you’re looking to grow your Barber Shop using Facebook. Some might ask, “Why do you want Facebook followers?” That’s a good question. Well, from a vanity standpoint it makes your business look more credible. But, at the end of the day, you’re not in this business for clout. The real reason you should want to grow your audience on Facebook, is for retargeting.

If you’re already running ads on Facebook, then you might understand the idea behind this strategy. When you run ads on Facebook against a cold audience, the frequency (amount of times people will see your ads) is about 1-2. However, if you run ads against your audience (those who follow or like your page) they will be able to see your ads 2-4 times! This means your conversions will be higher, and your costs per clicks and actions will be a lot cheaper!!

Now that we understand why it’s important to grow our audience on Facebook, let’s talk about how we will grow our audience!

Growing a Facebook Audience takes two things:

1. Resources (capital, tools, etc.) to run and boost advertisements, promotions and contests.

2. Time to invest into implementing content strategies, daily interactions and constant engagement with your users, other business pages, and the community.

To be successful you need to do both, either by yourself or delegate it to a social media manager or a social media marketing agency. However, before you start paying Facebook or hiring an agency, here’s a list of some quick organic ways to grow your Facebook Business Page.

Invite personal friends & colleagues or any user who ‘likes’ a photo or video on your Facebook business page to like your Facebook Business Page.

Cross-Promote your Facebook Business Page on other platforms. If you have a following on Twitter, Instagram or any other platforms make sure to let them know you are on Facebook.

Sharing other users’ posts lets your audience know that you’re involved in the Facebook community, and this creates a higher probability that other users will share content from your page. Doing this gives you the opportunity to tap into their network and leverage their audience.

Post engaging and valuable content, which should be a combination of industry-related news, tips, and blogs. Your posts should be informative and entertaining. Publishing valuable content will give people a reason to keep coming back to your page. It can’t always be about your products or services; this will make you look like a commercial to your fans, causing Facebook’s algorithm to lower your posts reach. The more engagement your page receives; the more reach your content will have.

Scheduling posts keeps you organized and efficient, enabling them to be published during peak hours of engagement. Facebook offers “Insights” on your Page’s performance, posts and audience. Use this data to plan, or re-work your strategy.

Post consistently throughout the week and engage with your audience through likes, comments, shares, etc. By doing so, users are more inclined to share your content with their followers.

Posting and participating regularly in groups on Facebook is excellent for organic growth. By sharing content from your business page to groups, you are tapping into a whole new network of followers. They’re tons of groups you can join, start by joining groups that are in the cities and towns that you’re serving!
